Nadine Feront Gallery is proud to present the first personal retrospective
of promising young Belgian artist Eva Evrard. Spanning more than ten
years of work, “Hunger & Bliss” offers the first comprehensive overview
of the artist’s work, from early beginnings to brand new pieces showing
the vitality and depth of Evrard’s practice. Tracing the evolution of the
artist’s reflection on form, the exhibition assembles a wide selection of her
early works on paper, in particular scrolls and books for which she is well-
known, as well as a powerful central installation of more than 250 ceramic
pieces, that explore the politics gender and identity from the perspective
of a female artist.  Confronting what the artist herself describes as her
own feelings of weakness and failure as a woman, she develops a forceful
account of her relationship to her own body, and how the body itself is
at the centre of “rapport de force” that will ultimately determine its shape
and function in society.
